Mr. A.K.M. Mamunur Rashid
has graduated in Anthropology, and submitted
his Ph.D. dissertation to the Rajshahi
University in the field of “Anthropology of
Food Security”, presently working in UNDP
Bangladesh as a Risk Reduction Professional
in its Comprehensive Disaster Management
Programme since 30 September 2004. Prior to
joining the UNDP, he served in CARE
Bangladesh in designing and implementing
Advocacy Strategy for reducing climate
change vulnerabilities of the poor people
living in Southwest Bangladesh. He has
eleven years work experience in development
sectors and also had a part-time teaching
position in the Urban and Rural Planning
Discipline in Khulna University. He also
visits North South University, Dhaka
University and Khulna University as guest
teacher in the Anthropology, Urban and Rural
Planning, and Environment Science
disciplines on Comprehensive Hazard and Risk
Management issues. He has experience in
program development, monitoring and
evaluation, program management, research and
community based programs. His key
experience, expertise and interest lies in
the field of disaster risk reduction,
climate change induced vulnerabilities,
communication and advocacy, human rights,
rights based approach, working with
children, disability and development, food
security, and rural development. He worked
in CARE Bangladesh, Save the Children UK,
JJS, Choral and SARPV. He also worked for
Action Aid, JESH Foundation, CDC, Shaplaful,
DDJ, MSS, Samadhan, Pioneer, SAFE, and
Development Wheel in the area of program and
strategy development. He has competencies in
Designing Programs, Partnership Development,
Multi-Hazard Risk Assessment, Capacity
Building Strategy Development, Development
of Advocacy Strategy, Development of
Communication Strategy, Team Building,
Program Management, Facilitation,
Development of Monitoring and Evaluation
