Summary
of Experiences:
I have graduated in Anthropology, and
submitted Ph.D. dissertation in the field of
Anthropology of Food Security, presently
working in UNDP Bangladesh as Community Risk
Reduction Specialist in its Comprehensive
Disaster Management Programme since October
2004. I have ten years experience in
development organizations and had a
part-time teaching position in the Urban and
Rural Planning Discipline in Khulna
University, Bangladesh. I have working
experience in program development, program
implementation, program management and
research. My key experience, expertise and
interest lies in the field of disaster risk
reduction, climate change induced
vulnerabilities, communication and advocacy,
human rights, rights based approach, working
with children, disability and development,
livelihood and food security, and rural
development. I have several publications in
reputed journals and organizations. I have
also received a good number of professional
training from different organizations. In my
carrier life, I have worked in several
local, national and international NGOs in
the area of training, awareness raising,
human rights, advocacy, environmental risks
and vulnerabilities, disability and
development, health care system, community
nutrition, child rights, forest dependent
livelihoods, sex workers human rights and
climate change. I have expertise in disaster
risk analysis, vulnerability assessment,
community based programme, national and
regional program designing, monitoring and
evaluation, socio-economic study,
partnership development, and
operationalization of Rights Based Approach
(RBA) into programming.

Ministry of Food and Disaster Management and
its agencies (Disaster Management Bureau
(DMB), Directorate of Relief and
Rehabilitation (DRR) and Directorate of
Food) to shift their programmatic approach
from response to risk reduction that the
disaster management mechanism of Bangladesh
